Discovering Ivor Gurney - course at University of Cambridge

Date: June 10th 2011 - June 12th 2011
Location: Madingley Hall, Madingley, Cambridge, UK

The course will build up to the world premieres of 15 songs newly unearthed and edited from the Gurney Archive by Kate Kennedy. Participants will be introduced to Gurney’s uniquely intense poetic and musical worlds, examining his influences and exploring his voice, as well as learning about his life and the circumstances surrounding the neglect of an important body of work. This weekend is appropriate for anyone interested in learning about music and literature, but also for any performers who want to learn some unpublished and previously totally unheard songs, violin or piano music by Gurney.
