Three Shropshire War Poets : A.E.Housman, Wilfred Owen, Mary Webb

Gladys Mary Coles will be giving a presentation at the Wenlock Poetry Festival on the weekend of 26th- 27th April. The event will mark the Centenary of the start of the First World War. The title is:
'Three Shropshire War Poets : A.E.Housman, Wilfred Owen, Mary Webb'.
 
Gladys Mary is also leading a poetry workshop, in which poets are invited to look closely at poems by Owen, and to respond with poems of their own.

Gladys Mary Coles' publications include ten poetry collections, notably war-themed Song of the Butcher Bird (2007), fifteen anthologies and an acclaimed novel CLAY (2010), set in the Great War period, the story of a young war poet. She has won major prizes in the National Poetry Competition, the Scottish International, Cardiff International, the University of Wales Open, and a Welsh Arts Council Writer's Award. She lectures in Creative Writing at Liverpool University and runs the literary press Headland Publications.
