To mark the Centenary of the outbreak of WW1, The Wilfred Owen Association has launched an International Poetry Competition in commemoration of Wilfred Owen (1893-1918). The prize-giving will take place during the Winchester Poetry Festival, which runs from 12-14 September.
More details will follow shortly.
The inaugural Winchester Poetry Festival has three integrated strands: is rooted in the centenary commemoration of the First World War and its poetry, and it is a celebration of Hampshire’s contribution to our national literary heritage.
It is also an opportunity to bring together twenty contemporary poets, writers and editors for readings and discussions about, among other matters, the impact of conflict in poetry today. In addition, there will be community and learning projects and preview events prior to the festival.
