The Shrewsbury Ramblers Group will be holding a special Wilfred Owen Walk on Saturday 24th May. The Walk will follow the route shown and described in this PDF, extracted from the Group’s guidebook published in June of 2012 detailing 20 walks in and around Shrewsbury.
The Walk details are as follows: It starts at 10 am from the Abbey Foregate carpark (opposite Shrewsbury Abbey). The leader is Audrey Menhinick (Tel:01743 247404). The distance is 2.5miles (boots and a packed lunch are not necessary). It is expected to finish about 12 am allowing time for brief stops at places associated with Wilfred Owen, (eg. The Wakeham School, which was formerly the technical college, the buttercup meadow, No.69 Monkmoor Road, and Symmetry, the memorial to Owen in the Abbey grounds).
