Wilfred Owen War poems concert

A song cycle of Britten's music for the Wilfred Owen war poems that are an integral part of the War Requiem, put together by David Corkhill with encouragement from Colin Matthews and the Britten Estate. The baritone and tenor soloists, Ben Appl and Adrian Thompson, will be accompanied by the 12-piece ensemble.

The first half of the concert is Shostakovich's Chamber Symphony op. 110a which is dedicated to "...the victims of fascism and war", and the ensemble is formed from Southbank Sinfonia.

The performance will be the opening concert of the 2014 Waterloo Festival, and is at 7.30pm on June 26th at St. John's Waterloo SE1 8TY (opposite the IMAX cinema). Tickets can be bought on line at https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/festival-opening-concert-the-pity-of-war-war-requiem-song-cycle-tickets-11553333331 and also on the door on the day.  They cost £12 (£8 concessions) and the Waterloo Festival theme is 'War and the World'.
