In this talk, Professor Elizabeth Vandiver will focus on Owen's interest in and love for Roman material culture and the city of Uriconium, the ruins of which are situated in what is now Wroxeter, five miles south of Shrewsbury. She will highlight the city's history and how it inspired Owen's pre-war poem, 'Uriconium: An Ode'.
