Senate House Library’s Centre for Public Engagement is delighted to announce an evening with renowned critic and biographer Jean Moorcroft Wilson in the historic surroundings of the Goldsmiths’ Library Reading Room, to celebrate the publication of her book, Siegfried Sassoon: Soldier, Poet, Lover, Friend.
The talk will focus on the updating and reshaping of Wilson’s landmark two-volume biography of Siegfried Sassoon into a new single volume edition, in the library which helped to inform both. There will be an insight into one biographer’s response to the opportunities offered by new material, along with the attendant difficulties of what previously cherished content must make way for it in this rare opportunity to return to a text. Followed by a wine reception, the author will sign copies of the new work, available on the day.
All are welcome and the event is free, but places are limited, and booking is essential:
